As AI writes more and more code, the crucial question that follows is — "Who will review all that code?" Anthropic answers this with Claude Code Review, an automated code review system using multiple AI agents (Multi-Agent) working simultaneously. Launched on March 9, 2026 — this article is EP 1/3 explaining what it is, how it works, and why organizations should pay attention.
Quick Summary — What is Claude Code Review?
Claude Code Review is a new feature of Claude Code from Anthropic that uses multiple AI agents (Multi-Agent) to automatically analyze code in GitHub Pull Requests, detecting bugs, security vulnerabilities, and logic errors, then displaying results as Inline Comments on the PR — developers reject findings less than 1% of the time.
Why Use AI for Code Review?
Today, AI can write code faster and in greater volumes than ever. According to Anthropic's own reports, Claude Code revenue has surpassed $2.5 billion per year. Major companies like Uber, Salesforce, and Accenture routinely use AI to help write code.
But the faster AI generates code, the heavier the burden on review teams:
- 3-5x more code — but the number of Senior Developers who can review remains the same
- AI writes code that "looks correct" but may hide Logic Errors — people skim through quickly because the code looks clean
- Security vulnerabilities — AI may unknowingly generate code with SQL Injection or XSS issues
- Accumulated Technical Debt — when reviews can't keep up, problematic code slips into Production
Claude Code Review was built specifically to solve these problems — not just ordinary Static Analysis, but AI that understands the Context of the entire Repository.
What is Claude Code Review?
Claude Code Review is a feature in Anthropic's Claude Code family, launched on March 9, 2026 as a Research Preview for Claude for Teams and Claude for Enterprise customers.
How it works:
- Connects to your organization's GitHub Repository
- When a new Pull Request is opened — the system automatically analyzes the changed code
- Uses a Multi-Agent System (multiple AIs working simultaneously) to find issues
- Displays results as Inline Comments + Summary on the Pull Request
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Feature Name | Claude Code Review |
| Developer | Anthropic |
| Launch Date | March 9, 2026 (Research Preview) |
| แพลตฟอร์ม | GitHub (Pull Requests) |
| Available To | Claude for Teams ($25-150/month) and Enterprise |
| Cost per Review | Approximately $15-25 (depending on code complexity) |
| Time Required | Average ~20 minutes per PR |
| Accuracy | Developers reject findings <1% |
Multi-Agent Architecture — The Heart of Claude Code Review
What makes Claude Code Review different from typical Linters or Static Analysis is its Multi-Agent architecture — the system doesn't use a single AI to read all code, but rather a team of multiple AIs working simultaneously, each with specialized roles.
Workflow
Multi-Agent Workflow (4 Steps)
- Dispatch (Task Assignment) — Lead Agent receives the PR and distributes tasks to multiple sub-agents
- Scan (Find Issues) — each Agent searches for specialized issues: bugs, Security, Performance, Logic Errors
- Verify (Double-Check) — a second set of Agents verifies findings to filter out False Positives
- Report (Reporting) — the final Agent prioritizes by severity and posts as Inline Comments on the PR
This design gives Claude Code Review several advantages:
| Feature | Traditional Static Analysis | Claude Code Review |
|---|---|---|
| Context Understanding | Reviews file by file, no overall understanding | Understands the entire Repository — knows where code changes have impact |
| Issue Types | Syntax, Style, pre-defined Patterns | Logic Error, Security Flaw, Performance Issue, Design Problem |
| False Positive | High — so many alerts that people ignore them | Very low — Verify Agent double-checks (reject <1%) |
| Fix Suggestions | Only tells you what's wrong | Suggests fixes with corrected code, ready to implement via Claude Code |
| Customizable | Must configure rules manually | Reads CLAUDE.md as the organization's Coding Standard automatically |
Why is Multi-Agent Better Than Single Agent?
According to Anthropic, Claude can invoke Tools an average of 21.2 times consecutively without human intervention (up 116% in 6 months) — meaning each Agent doesn't just "read code" but can:
- Search related files and examine called Functions
- Check Type Definitions to find Type Mismatches
- Review existing Tests to check if new code has Test Coverage
- Check Dependencies to see if changes affect other Modules
When multiple Agents do this simultaneously, each with their own Context Window — the results are far more comprehensive than a single person reviewing the PR.
What Can Claude Code Review Do?
Claude Code Review doesn't just "find bugs" — it covers multiple dimensions of code inspection:
| Inspection Type | Example | Severity Level |
|---|---|---|
| Logic Error | Incomplete if-else conditions, Off-by-one errors, Race conditions | Critical |
| Security Vulnerability | SQL Injection, XSS, Hardcoded Secrets, Insecure API Call | Critical |
| Performance Issue | N+1 Query, Memory Leak, Unnecessary Re-render, Missing Index | High |
| Error Handling | Unhandled Exception, Missing Try-Catch, Silent Failure | High |
| Design & Architecture | Tight Coupling, God Class, Violation of SOLID Principles | Medium |
| Test Coverage | Missing Tests for Edge Cases, Tests that don't actually Assert anything | Medium |
High Accuracy — Less Than 1% Rejection Rate
The most important highlight is accuracy — according to Anthropic, developers reject Claude Code Review findings less than 1% of the time, compared to traditional Static Analysis which often has such high False Positive rates that people stop paying attention.
The main reasons are:
- Confidence Score — every finding has a confidence score; the system only shows issues with Confidence ≥80
- Verify Agent — a second set of Agents double-checks before reporting
- Context-Aware — understands the code's context, not just pattern matching
Who Can Use Claude Code Review?
Currently, Claude Code Review is a Research Preview for:
| Plan | Price | Code Review Access |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Free / Pro | Free / $20/month | No |
| Claude for Teams (Standard) | $25/user/month | No (no Claude Code) |
| Claude for Teams (Premium) | $150/user/month | Yes |
| Claude for Enterprise | Custom (starting ~$50K/year) | Yes |
Additionally, there is a cost per review of approximately $15-25 per PR depending on code complexity.
How to Enable (Overview)
There are 2 main ways to enable Claude Code Review:
| Method | Description | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
| 1. GitHub App (Automatic) | Install Claude GitHub App → enable per Repository → automatic Review on every PR | Teams that want every PR reviewed |
| 2. CLI Command (On-demand) | Run /code-review in Claude Code Terminal → choose which PR to review |
Developers who want to review specific PRs only |
EP 2 will explain the step-by-step setup — including GitHub App installation, Workflow file creation, customizing Reviews with CLAUDE.md, and real-world usage examples.
Claude Code Review and Enterprise Software Development
For organizations with software development teams — whether developing ERP systems, Web Applications, or Internal Tools — Claude Code Review can help in multiple dimensions:
- Reduce Senior Developer workload — no need to review every line manually; AI pre-filters issues
- Maintain security standards — automatically checks Authentication, Authorization, Input Validation
- Accelerate Releases — from reviews that could take days, down to ~20 minutes
- Enforce Coding Standards — define standards in CLAUDE.md and AI checks every PR
Example: Enterprise Implementation
Companies developing ERP systems or internal applications can use Claude Code Review to inspect code written by AI or Junior Developers before merging into the Main Branch — reducing the chance of bugs reaching Production and maintaining long-term code quality, especially for system reliability and digital signatures.
